Traditional categorical approach to the diagnosis of personality disorders, which focuses on determining the presence or absence of a specific diagnosis, has several limitations. It does not adequately reflect the degree of impairment, the individual profile of personality functioning, or differences in clients’ therapeutic needs. The dimensional approach to the diagnosis of personality disorders is currently gaining increasing recognition. It constitutes the primary diagnostic model in the ICD-11 and is also presented in Section III of the DSM-5-TR as the Alternative Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD). Unlike the categorical approach, the dimensional model focuses not only on the presence of pathological traits but also on the level of personality functioning. The DSM-5-TR Alternative Model conceptualizes personality in terms of its level of functioning across four key domains: identity, self-direction, empathy, and intimacy. This article proposes that these domains may serve as a functional framework for analyzing manifestations of the Adult ego state in transactional analysis. Within the proposed approach, the Adult is understood not merely as the capacity to evaluate reality rationally, but as a system of interrelated psychological functions that support autonomy, the capacity for conscious choice, self-regulation, an understanding of oneself and others, as well as the capacity to establish mature interpersonal relationships. Integration of the AMPD with the concept of the Adult makes it possible to move beyond describing personality pathology toward assessing functioning, identifying resources, and establishing more precise therapeutic goals. This approach may provide a basis for further exploration of Adult functions as an operationalizable construct – that is, as a system of functions whose level of development can be assessed using specific criteria.</p>
Данный подход может создать основу для дальнейшего изучения функций Взрослого как операционализируемого конструкта, то есть системы функций, сформированность которых может быть оценена по конкретным критериям.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>transactional analysis</kwd><kwd>Adult ego state</kwd><kwd>DSM-5-TR</kwd><kwd>Alternative Model for Personality Disorders</kwd><kwd>personality functioning</kwd><kwd>dimensional approach</kwd><kwd>psychotherapy</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>транзактный анализ</kwd><kwd>эго-состояние Взрослого</kwd><kwd>DSM-5-TR</kwd><kwd>альтернативная модель расстройств личности</kwd><kwd>функционирование личности</kwd><kwd>дименсиональный подход</kwd><kwd>психотерапия</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Berne, E.
